Penn State Abington’s Pat Fitzgerald (Central Bucks South), Trey Guaglionona (Abington), Greg Mugnier (Abington), and Anthony Pletscher (North Penn) were named to the Fall 2015 Director’s List with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
John Brown University senior Luke Moyer (Souderton) was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s
Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 13. The 6-1 senior guard had 30 points in JBU’s 101-60 victory of Ecclesia (Ark.). He was 10-of-13 (77 percent) from the field and seven-of-nine (78 percent) from three-point range. He finished just three triples shy of the program record of nine. It is his first career weekly accolade. “Luke has been having a terrific year for us,” head coach Jason Beschta noted. “He has been so good with the ball in his hands and running the show for us, getting the ball where it needs to go, and showing a real ability to score when we need it.” At the time of the honor, Moyer was ranked in the top 50 players nationwide in six categories, including No. 5 in total triples (39), No. 8 in treys per game (3.25) and No. 11 in free throw percentage (88.6 percent). He also ranked No. 17 in total points (212), No. 33 in points per game (17.667) and No. 40 in three-point shooting (44.3 percent).
Moyer scored 22 points and also had three rebounds and two assists in John Brown University’s 75-64 win over Oklahoma City on Saturday.
Freshman Evan Slone (Souderton) shot 6-for-9 from the field in the opening 20 minutes for 13 points and finished with a game high 19 points in Arcadia’s 79-77 loss to DeSales University on Wednesday. In Monday’s 75-71 overtime win over Rutgers-Newark, Slone led all players with 10 rebounds.
Wes Brooks (North Penn) netted a career best 26 points in McDaniel’s 81-67 loss to Ursinus College on Saturday. In Thursday’s 59-43 loss to Franklin & Marshall, Brooks scored 11 points. In last Sunday’s 90-84 loss to Roanoke, Brooks scored 19 points, hitting seven of his 14 field goals attempts.
Junior Ryan Charity (Pennsbury) contributed six points and seven rebounds off the bench in Cabrini’s 70-64 win over Centenary on Saturday.
Ryan Arcidiacono (Neshaminy) contributed 11 points and three assists in Villanova’s 72-63 win over Seton Hall on Wednesday.
Senior guard Mark Wonderling (Souderton) scored six points and also had eight rebounds in Ursinus College’s 85-74 win over Washington College on Thursday.
Jaylen Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh) led all players with 12 rebounds while also scoring nine points in Temple’s 78-60 win over East Carolina on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 55-53 win over #23/24 UConn, Bond notched his fourth double-double of the season, grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 11 points.
Julian Hyden (Bensalem) scored 20 points while Arron Goodman (Council Rock North) added 20 and Aaron Morgan (Council Rock North) contributed eight in Gwynedd Mercy’s 103-71 win over Rosemont on Saturday. In Thursday’s 93-71 win over Marywood, Hyden scored a game high 16 while Morgan added 15 and Goodman had 11 points and nine rebounds. Hyden was a perfect 9-of-9 at the free throw line. In Tuesday’s 88-62 win over Keystone College, Hyden scored 12 points.
Freshman Jimmy Murray (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed eight points in Moravian’s 81-76 win over Elizabethtown on Saturday. In Thursday’s 80-73 loss to Drew, Murray contributed 19 points, three rebounds and two assists. In Tuesday’s 87-68 loss to The United States Merchant Marine Academy, Murray tossed in 16 points and added a pair of assists.
Junior Josh Johnson (Norristown) threw down an alley-oop dunk at the 10:44 mark in the first half of
Kutztown’s 99-76 win over Bloomsburg on Saturday to go over the 1,000-point mark in his KU career. He became the 24th member of the KU 1,000-point club. He posted a team-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two steals. Anthony Lee (Abington) recorded 18 points, five rebounds and two steals. In Wednesday’s 74-67 win over Clarion, Lee made six of his first seven shots to score 15 first-half points on a his way to a season high 22 points. He shot 9-for-13 from the field and 4-for-5 from downtown. He grabbed seven rebounds and tied for the team lead with three steals. It marked Lee’s best performance since posting 21 points and 10 rebounds on Dec. 4 in his first career start. It marked his third straight game with three steals. Johnson added 14 points and was 6-for-11 from the floor. He also grabbed nine rebounds and added three assists and two steals. In last Sunday’s 80-49 win over Gannon, Ryan Connolly (Souderton) scored a career high 29 points and made 13-of-15 free throws. Lee shot 7-for-9 for 16 points, which included a pair of breakaway dunks, to go with a team high three steals.

Freshman guard Matt Pennecale (Abington) poured in a career high 16 points in No. 22 West Chester’s 87-60 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 81-67 win over California (Pa.), Penecale registered a double-double with 10 points and a season best 11 assists – which ties the fourth best single game effort in program history. The last time a Golden Rams’ player dished out that many assists in a game was in 1998.

Freshman Nicole Munger (Central Bucks West) scored seven points in Michigan’s 65-53 win over Iowa on Thursday.
Senior Alex Wheatley (Council Rock South) scored 12 points in Princeton’s 50-48 loss to Penn in Saturday’s Ivy League opener. In last Sunday’s 79-55 win over Hampton, Wheatley scored 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds.
Sophomore Allison Gallagher (Souderton) scored a career high 30 points in Widener’s 80-56 win over Alvernia on Saturday. Freshman Emma Gardy (Central Bucks South) netted a career best four points down the stretch. In Wednesday’s 86-70 loss to nationally-ranked Albright, Gallagher finished with 17 points.
Tyra Roberts (Bensalem) scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds in Alvernia’s 80-56 loss to Widener on Saturday. In Alvernia’s 79-77 win over Hood College on Wednesday, Roberts continued her double-double streak, tying her season high with 21 points while picking up 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Keifonna Ferguson (Norristown) contributed 11 points, three steals and five boards in Kutztown’s 76-70 loss to Bloomsburg on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 71-66 loss to Clarion, Ferguson posted seven points and seven rebounds while freshman Taylor Thames (North Penn) contributed nine points and three rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench. In last Sunday’s 85-76 overtime loss to Gannon, Ferguson had six points and six rebounds.

Freshman Shelby Schoonover (Pennridge) provided a spark off the bench in Lycoming’s 80-61 win over Hood College on Wednesday night, finishing with 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal. She was 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Amie Eppolito (Pennsbury) scored 19 points in Cairn University’s 68-62 win over Keystone College on Saturday. In Thursday’s 63-58 win over Immaculata, Eppolito led the Highlanders with 22 points.

Senior guard Ciara ‘CC’ Andrews (Cheltenham) scored 12 points in St. Joseph’s 62-58 win over Massachusetts on Wednesday evening. Her two free throws with 5.4 seconds to play sealed the win. In last Sunday’s 70-45 loss to George Washington, Andrews led the Hawks with 12 points and also had seven rebounds.

Evan Sherkness (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was part of West Chester’s winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:33.77 in West Chester’s sweep of The College of New Jersey and Johns Hopkins in a tri-meet on Wednesday.

Towson senior Natalee Szopo (Upper Moreland) won both the one-meter (258.38) and three-meter (257.33) diving events in Towson’s 156-90 win over McDaniel on Saturday.
Sophomore Megan Berardelli (Wissahickon) broke her own program record in the 3-meter dive in Marist’s 162-120 win over Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, posting 311.63, which was 11.43 points higher than her previous mark. She led a 1-2-3 Marist finish in the event.
Senior Kristina Congdon (Pennsbury) won the three-meter diving event with 297.90 points in Delaware’s tri-meet with Drexel and Northeastern on Saturday. She finished second in the one-meter event with 277.85 points. Alyssa Santangelo (Souderton) captured third place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.23. Delaware defeated Drexel 232-68 and Northeastern 167-133.
Freshman Hannah Wittman (Central Bucks East) finished first in the 200 individual medley in Pitt’s 188-11 win over West Virginia on Saturday.
Senior Carolyn Meier (Upper Dublin) earned a pair of first place finishes in Shippensburg’s 108-97 loss to Edinboro on Saturday. Meier finished first in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.34 and also won the 100 free with a time of 55.46. She was part of the second place 200 free relay that posted a time of 1:42.63.
Elizabeth Miller (Neshaminy) finished second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:17.12 in West Chester’s 151-109 loss to Johns Hopkins on Wednesday.

Elizabethtown sophomore Philip Torresani (Hatboro-Horsham) was 2-2 at 125 at the North-South Duals at Ursinus College on Saturday. In Elizabethtown’s 27-18 win over Oneonta, Torresani earned a 13-2 major decision. In Eliabethtown’s 19-18 win over McDaniel, Torresani pinned his opponent. In Wednesday’s 34-12 win over Scranton, Torresani earned a 13-5 major decision.
Greg Kabakjian (Souderton) earned a 9-3 decision at 149 in Messiah University’s 39-13 win over Olivet on Saturday at the 28th annual Budd Whitehill Duals. He earned a 7-4 decision in Messiah’s 32-6 win over Ohio Northern. He finished the day 2-2.
Matt Martoccio (Council Rock South), the second-ranked 157-pounder in Division II, earned a pin in 2:15 in Kutztown’s 28-15 victory over Liberty in the semifinals of the 2016 American College Championship at the Virginia Duals on Saturday. He earned an 8-6 win in Kutztown’s 32-3 win over Minnesota State Moorhead. In Friday’s 31-9 win over Central Florida, Martoccio won by tech fall.
