MEN’S BASKETBALL
Matt Penecale (Abington) scored 20 points in West Chester’s 117-91 loss to top-ranked West Liberty on Saturday in the final game of the West Liberty Tip-Off Classic. In Friday’s 96-87 loss to Notre Dame College in the opening game of the tournament, Penecale scored a team-best 19 points.
Anthony Lee (Abington) registered a career-high 12 rebounds to go with 17 points for his third career double-double in Kutztown’s 110-71 win over Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday. Ryan Connolly (Souderton) also had 17 points and nailed a game-high 4-of-6 from three-point range. Demetrius Bennett (Plymouth Whitemarsh) led Kutztown’s bench with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Freshman Mikaela Giuliani (North Penn) scored 13 points off the bench in the University of the Science’s 60-55 win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday, knocking down 5-of-8 shots while also pulling down seven rebounds. In Friday’s 65-63 overtime win over American International, Giuliani contributed six points, three rebounds, one block and one assist.
Playing in her first collegiate game, Erin Maher (North Penn) came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points in 25 minutes in Philadelphia University’s 57-46 win over the University of Bridgewater on Saturday. She connected on 7-of-15 shots and 5-of-9 from three-point range. She also pulled down six rebounds.
Senior Rachel Falkowski (Central Bucks South) contributed nine points in East Stroudsburg’s 78-72 loss to Lehigh on Friday.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Cairn University freshman Joel Varughese (Bensalem) posted a school record time of 27:09 in the 8K race at
the NCAA Mideast Regionals on Saturday, placing 113th in the 351-runner field. Varughese shaved 38 seconds off his previous personal best. He has led the Highlanders in four different races this year, including three of the last five. He also earned All-CSAC first team honors with a fifth place finish at the CSAC Championships. Cairn placed 35th in the 52-team race at regionals.
Penn State Abington’s Troy Green (Upper Dublin) beat his personal record by 26 seconds with a time of 28:26 at the NCAA Regionals on Saturday. Alexander Beltz (Abington) finished with a time of 28:43.
La Salle senior Francis Ferruzzi (Upper Dublin) earned All Mid-Atlantic Region honors, finishing 17th with a time of 31:13 on the 10K course at Penn State. The Explorers raced to a 13th place finish.
Widener freshman Thomas Rozinski (North Penn) posted a time of 27:25 at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday. Widener finished sixth among 52 scoring teams.
Villanova’s Casey Comber (Hatboro-Horsham) finished fourth with a time of 30:53 at the
NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on the campus of Penn State University on Friday. For his performance, Comber earned All-Region honors.
Ursinus College freshman Logan Mazullo (Central Bucks West) was the top placer for the men’s team at the NCAA Mid-East Regional on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 27:43.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Elizabethtown’s Kelsey Brady (Council Rock South) finished 24th with a time of 22:39 at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship on Saturday. Brady received her first All-Mideast Region honor. Senior Liz Wedekind (Pennsbury) posted a time of 23:05 to take 38th for her best finish at a Mideast Regional race. Elizabethtown, which took third at the regional meet, received an at-large big to the NCAA Championship meet, which will be held Nov. 19.
Penn State Abington freshman Claire Reeves (Central Bucks East) earned a time of 26:18 at the NCAA Division III Regionals on Saturday.
St. Joseph’s freshman Meridith Twomey (Pennsbury) posted a time of 23:02 at the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Penn State University on Friday.
La Salle freshman Alyssa Quinn (Hatboro-Horsham) posted a time of 24:25 at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday at Penn State.

Bloomsburg’s Keelan McDonald (Central Bucks West) and Jessica Quesenberry (Wissahickon) both were named All-Region by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). McDonald finished 11th at the NCAA Regional Championships on Nov. 5 with a time of 23:29, and Quesenberry was 20th in 23:48.
Senior Kate Scott (Council Rock North) earned an automatic bid into the NCAA
National Championship while leading the Bucknell women's cross country team to a sixth place finish among 28 teams at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals at Penn State on Friday. Scott became the fifth Bucknell runner and the first since 2006 to qualify for the NCAA National Championship as an individual. The senior finished ninth in the 6K race, completing the course in 20:45. For her performance, Scott earned All-Region honors.The NCAA National Championships are set for Nov. 19 at Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
FIELD HOCKEY
Muhlenberg junior Emma Rosenthal (Central Bucks East) earned second team All-Centennial Conference honors. The CB East grad, who repeated on the All-CC second team, recorded a 0.76 goals-against average in CC play. The first Mule goalie named to the All-CC team multiple times, Rosenthal is second in the CC overall with a 1.09 goals-against average and five shutouts.
Rosenthal had four saves in Muhlenberg’s 3-0 win over Kean in the title game of the ECAC Tournament on Sunday. The shutout gave the Mules their school record 11th shutout of the season. Rosenthal was named to the All-Tournament Team. In Saturday’s 1-0 win over top-seeded Alvernia in the semifinals on Saturday, Rosenthal made five saves.
Drexel sophomore Katie Bagdon (Council Rock South) was named to the 2016 Field Hockey
Championships All-CAA Team. Drexel, the number four seed, fell to No. 1 seed and No. 9 nationally-ranked Delaware in the semifinals of the four-team tournament. This is Bagdon’s first selection to the all-tournament team.
Shelby Landes (Souderton) saved the only shot that came her way on a penalty stroke in the second half in No. 1 Messiah’s 5-0 win over Keene State College in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament on Saturday. In Friday’s 4-2 opening round win over defending national champion Middlebury, Landes recorded a pair of saves.
Ursinus College senior Amber Steigerwalt (Central Bucks South) was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team for the second straight year. The Bears’ leader in goals (16) and points (37), she scored three goals in two CC tournament contests. A three-time All-CC performer, Steigerwalt is tied for fifth in Ursinus history in goals (57) and ranks sixth in points (140). She is eighth in CC history in points and tied for 10th in goals. Her 15 game-winning goals are tied for sixth in the conference record books.
Ursinus College freshman Erin Saybolt (Souderton) was named the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year. Saybolt started all 20 games this season, registering two goals and two assists. Five of her six points came in the past six contests, and both of her goals were game winners.
Ursinus senior Ann Kopera (Neshaminy) was selected to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
Ursinus fell to No. 2 Salisbury 1-0 in Sunday’s NCAA quarterfinal game. In Saturday’s second round 2-1 victory over ninth-ranked Trinity (Conn.), Saybolt scored one goal and assisted on another. Kopera was part of a defensive unit that limited the NESCAC Player of the Year, Kelcie Finn, to three shots on the afternoon. Sophomore Jules Singer (Council Rock North) made two saves in goal.
FOOTBALL
Josh Adams (Central Bucks South) had 73 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown in Notre Dame’s 44-6 win over Army on Saturday.
Kevin Goetz (Neshaminy) connected on a 32-yard field goal in Albright’s 28-25 loss to Lebanon Valley on Saturday.
Senior defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (Wissahickon) had a sack and three total tackles for a loss in Villanova’s 20-7 loss to No. 6 James Madison University on Saturday.
Senior captain Steve Gozur (North Penn) registered a game-high 13 tackles and forced a fumble in Widener’s 45-7 loss to Delaware Valley in the annual Keystone Cap battle on Saturday.
Corey Kelly (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored on runs of 21 and one yard in Ursinus College’s 37-14 win over Dickinson Saturday. His two touchdown runs move Kelly – who had 35 yards on 12 carries – into fourth in program history with 19 career rushing touchdowns. Freshman Jack Spingler (Neshaminy) picked up his team-leading third interception. Freshman quarterback Thomas Garlick (Quakertown) completed 20-of-28 pass attempts for 190 yards and a touchdown, adding 48 yards and a score on the ground. Freshman Stacey Gardner (Upper Dublin) racked up 74 yards on 13 carries.
Mike Class (Pennridge) had 15 carries for a team-high 118 yards in West Chester’s 37-10 win over Clarion in its regular season finale Saturday. Junior quarterback Andrew Derr (Upper Dublin) completed 10-of-17 pass attempts for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Millersville punter Evan Stahl (Central Bucks South) finished the season as the PSAC leader in average at 41.7 yards per punt. The mark breaks the single-season program record set in 2008. In Saturday’s 31-14 loss to Gannon, Stahl punted five times for an average of 45.2 with a long punt of 67 yards.
Kenny Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) posted 11 tackles, including nine solo stops, in Kutztown’s 49-7 loss to sixth-ranked California University (Pa.) in the PSAC championship game on Saturday. Craig Reynolds (Abington) ran for 38 yards to end his year with 1,189 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, both third most in single season school history.
Redshirt senior quarterback Bruce Campbell (Pennsbury) was 8-of-17 for 110 yards and a touchdown in East Stroudsburg’s 57-15 loss to Slippery Rock on Saturday. Campbell was 99-for-190 for 1,511 yards and 12 touchdowns in nine games this season.
MEN’S SOCCER
Ursinus College senior midfielder Ryan Molyneaux (Souderton) was named to the All-Centennial
Conference second team. The Souderton alum, who also earned second team honors last year and was an honorable mention selection in 2014, led the Bears in goals (four) and points (nine) as a senior, bringing his career totals to 13 goals and 13 assists. Molyneaux is one of only seven players in program history to reach those numbers. He scored in three consecutive games during the middle of the season – at Wilkes and against a pair of CC playoff participants in Johns Hopkins and Washington College – and paced the team with 40 shots. A three-time captain, Molyneaux started all 66 games since he arrived on campus, never missing a single game. He finished his career with four game-winning goals, including three his freshman season, and he made both of his penalty kick attempts. Molyneaux is one of only two players in school history to be named to the All-CC team three times.
La Salle redshirt junior Matt Robinson (North Penn) was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference second
team and the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. Robinson led the team in points with 16, finishing tied with teammate Colman Kennedy for the team-high in goals with five. The redshirt junior missed all of last season due to injury and returned to score the game-winning goal in the Explorers’ first two games this season. He also finished tied for second in the conference in assists with six. His four-assist performance against Saint Peter’s on Sept. 7 was tied for the single-game high in Division One this season.
Robinson scored his team’s only goal in La Salle-s 3-1 loss to Rhode Island in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Thursday night.
West Chester’s Brian Schaefer (Upper Dublin) earned PSAC All-Conference second team honors. The senior captain tallied four goals and an assist in limited action. Schaefer played in only 12 games due to injury, but he made the most of his opportunities for the Golden Rams.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Washington and Lee sophomore midfielder Megan Engeland (Pennsbury) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Engeland started 17 games for the Generals and had a team-high six game-winning goals. She ranks second on the team in goals (10) and points (21). Her six game-winning goals rank second in the conference, while her 10 goals are tied for sixth. She also garnered ODAC All-Tournament team accolades. Engeland is the first Washington and Lee women’s soccer player to earn the Player of the Year honors since 2009.
Engeland was named to the Generalssports.com Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5. The sophomore midfielder scored five goals in the ODAC tournament to lead the women’s soccer team to an ODAC championship.
Junior Megan Schafer (Neshaminy) tallied her fifth assist of the year and her sixth goal and sophomore Marissa Sheva (Pennridge) added a goal in Penn State’s 6-0 win over Bucknell in the opening round of the 2016 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament on Friday night.
McDaniel junior Kristen Upton (Central Bucks South) was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team. The junior defender made her second All-CC appearance after begin tabbed second team in 2015. Upton started all 19 games, keying a back line that posted a 0.52 goals-against average and 13 shutouts. She has also contributed four goals.
McDaniel junior Sarah McDonald (Pennsbury) was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team. It is her first All-CC appearance. McDaniel started 17 games in goals and has a 0.60 goals-against average and .863 save percentage. Individually, she posted nine shutouts and was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week four straight times in October.
Drexel sophomore Shaelyn McCarty (Central Bucks West) was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team for her performance through the conference championships. Drexel fell to No. 1 seeded Northeastern 3-0 in the championship title game last Sunday. It was the Dragons first-ever appearance in the conference championship finals.
Chrissy Terraces (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored twice in Albright’s 6-0 win over Neumann in the first round of the ECAC tournament on Saturday.
Ursinus senior midfielder Jeannie Jasinski (Pennridge) was named to the All-Centennial Conference second team for the third year in a row. She is the fourth player in program history to collect three all-conference laurels. Jasinski scored three goals this season and leaves fourth in school history in goals (22) and sixth in points (47). Jaskinski started 60 games in her career.
Ursinus senior forward Erin Farrell (Neshaminy) earned All-Centennial Conference honorable mention recognition for the second straight season. A veteran with 63 career starts, Farrell led the Bears in goals (six), assists (five) and points (17). Farrell, who had a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win over Alvernia on Sept. 20, finished her senior year strong with two goals and three assists in her last four games. She closed her career with 15 goals and 10 assists, one of only five Bears to reach those numbers.
Ursinus junior defensive back Anna Budny (Council Rock North) received All-Centennial Conference honorable mention recognition for the second consecutive season. She anchored a defense that surrendered just 20 goals in 16 games and posted five clean sheets. Budny has started 48 games over the last three seasons.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Eastern University senior Stephanie Elechko (North Penn), who has been dominant this fall, was named to
the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-Region team. The 6-2 outside hitter has recorded double-figure kills in 32 of Eastern’s 34 matches. Her ability to hit over the block has provided the Eastern attack with a steady attacking option against even the biggest teams on its schedule. She had 529 kills heading into the Regional Tournament at Stevens Tech. She is only the fourth payer in program history to eclipse 500 kills in a season. Elechko, who was a middle hitter in her first two seasons, has played a major role in serve receive and has 215 digs in 121 sets played.
Elechko had 12 kills to lead a balanced attack in No. 13 Eastern’s 3-0 win over Ramapo College on Saturday. As a result of the win, Eastern advances to the NCAA Regional Finals for the ninth time in program history. In Friday’s 3-0 opening round win over Farmingdale State, Elechko had a match-high 14 kills.
Lauren Laucella (Hatboro-Horsham) had seven kills and nine digs in Philadelphia University’s 3-2 win over Holy Family on Saturday.
