MEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore Evan Slone (Souderton) scored 22 points and had a team-leading six rebounds in Arcadia University’s 91-82 win at Rosemont on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 77-66 win over Scranton, Slone contributed 13 points.
Arron Goodman (Council Rock North) had 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in Gwynedd Mercy’s 82-77 win at Gallaudet on Saturday.
Lock Haven freshman Amir Hinton (Abington) was named the PSAC Eastern Division Freshman of the Week for his efforts vs. Pitt-Johnstown. Despite a loss, Hinton led the Bald Eagle effort, scoring a game-high 23 points. The rookie was 11-of-20 from the field, and he added seven steals, five rebounds and three assists in a sensational all-around effort. Hinton’s 23-point effort at UPJ propelled him into the top spot in the PSAC scoring ranks as he is now averaging 22.4 points per game through the first nine games of the 2016-17 season. This marks the second time this season that Hinton has been named PSAC East Freshman of the Week.
Sophomore Matt Penecale (Abington) contributed 13 points to go along with a team-high seven assists in West Chester’s 91-78 win over Wilmington University on Monday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Ursinus freshman Lydia Konstanzer (Pennridge) was named the Centennial Conference Women’s Basketball
Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 11. Konstanzer put up huge numbers in a 1-1 week for the Bears. The rookie averaged 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game and shot 64.5 percent from the field, fueled by a record-setting effort in 64-47 victory over Swarthmore. Konstanzer exploded for 32 points and 10 rebounds, setting the program record for points by a freshman and registering her second double-double in a span of three outings. The freshman finished 13-of-22 from the floor in her first collegiate start and notched the highest scoring game by a Bear since 1998. She also added two assists and two steals. She followed with a 17-point, nine-rebound performance at Muhlenberg, making 7-of-9 field goals and all three of her free throws. Konstanzer has scored at least 15 points in four straight games, averaging 20.0 points and 9.5 boards per contest during that stretch. She is shooting 57.6 percent (38-of-66) in those four games and has bumped her team-leading averages to 12.9 points and 6.9 rebounds on the season. Konstanzer also leads the Bears in field goal percentage at .490.
University of the Sciences freshman Jordan Vitelli (Central Bucks South) was named the CACC Co-Player and Rookie of the Week for the week ending Dec. 11. Vitelli shot 67 percent from three-point range in a pair of USciences’ wins last week, connecting on 10-of-15 shots from beyond the arc. Vitelli averaged 21.0 points in just 17.5 minutes per game. In the two wins, she averaged 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game. She shot 65 percent from the field. Vitelli scored 22 in a win over Holy Family and had 20 in a win over Wilmington University.
Sophomore Mackenzie Carroll (Central Bucks West) scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds in Colgate’s 82-77 loss to UMass Lowell on Sunday. The West graduate connected on 6-of-11 shots from the floor and was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Alynna Williams (Plymouth Whitemarsh) poured in a career-high 20 points in Philadelphia University’s 62-38 win over Washington Adventist University on Saturday. Erin Maher (North Penn) added 10 points. In Thursday’s 71-53 loss to Holy Family, Maher came off the bench to play 29 minutes and led the Rams with 13 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Sophomore Nicole Munger (Central Bucks West) scored eight points in Michigan’s 78-56 win over Vermont on Saturday. She was 3-of-5 from the field and 2-of-3 from long range.
Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) contributed 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting and a 4-of-5 performance at the free throw line in Shippensburg’s 74-70 loss at Goldey-Beacom on Friday night. She added six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Larissa Leyes (Upper Dublin) contributed seven points and three assists in Gwynedd Mercy’s 70-67 loss to Stockton on Monday. Jayla Greene (Springfield) had seven rebounds, three assists and two points.
Freshman Devan Rimmer (Pennridge) registered her first career double-double in leading Widener to a 71-52 victory over Lawrence in the opening game of the St. Pete Classic on Saturday. The Pennridge graduate scored 20 points and corralled a career-high 12 rebounds. She shot 8-of-16 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from long range, and added two steals. Junior Allison Gallagher (Souderton) contributed 17 points and eight boards to go along with three steals. In Tuesday’s 93-73 loss to Rowan, Rimmer scored 17 points, which included a perfect 11-of-11 at the line while also notching five assists and three steals.
Junior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Penn) scored 21 off the bench in Chestnut Hill’s 94-92 overtime victory over Kutztown University on Saturday. In Chestnut Hill’s 102-67 CACC win over Wilmington University on Thursday, Tumasz scored a game-high 18 points off the bench, connecting on 6-of-11 (.545) from downtown.
WOMEN’S SOCCER

McDaniel College juniors Sarah McDonald (Pennsbury) and Kristen Upton (Central Bucks South) were named to the 2016 Centennial Conference (CC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the honor roll, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or higher and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.40. Both McDonald and Upton were named Academic All-Centennial. To earn the honor, a student-athlete must receive both All-Conference and Academic Honor Roll honors.
West Chester University senior back Carly Henry (Pennridge) was named to the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) 2016 Scholar All-America squad. Henry becomes the first NSCAA Scholar All-American for the Golden Rams since 2010. Henry, who was named an NSCAA third-team All-American earlier this month, scored one goal and assisted on three others from her outside back position. Mostly recognized for her defensive play along West Chester’s stout back line, Henry provided the senior leadership to a unit that led the PSAC in fewest goals against and ranked as high as third nationally in that same category. This is her fifth postseason award this fall. She scored the only goal of her career against East Stroudsburg in the NCAA Tournament last month.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Senior Andrew Richey (William Tennent) was named the male IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 11. Richey tallied three PSAC championship qualifying times against Clarion. He earned wins in the 50 freestyle (22.14) and swam a leg on the victorious 200 free relay team. He also placed third in the 100 free with a time of 49.72.
