Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 4, BENSALEM 0
Just two years removed from a five-win season that saw the Bucks go winless in conference play, West won 14 games, closing out its season with a resounding non-league win.
“We are all in new chartered waters – no one, including the coaches, have ever made districts,” coach Mike Moyer said. “I’m so excited for my seniors.”
Also turning things around this season – under coach Bob Crawford – were the Owls, who closed out their season with a 7-9-2 record (6-5-1 SOL) after winning just three games last year.
The Bucks got off to a fast start, connecting for a goal four minutes into the game.
“Megan Gallagher played a great head ball in that Taylor Moyer controlled and hit a great left footed volley low and hard to give us a 1-0 lead,” Moyer said.
Five minutes later, the Bucks added to their lead.
“Trish Hauck made a great pass to Taylor who scored her second goal of the game with a laser that found the back of the net,” Moyer said. “Our third goal came on a corner kick that Kyra LaLena hit and Keely McGlone has a great header to find Trish Hauck who buried the third goal of the game to give us a 3-0 lead at half.”
The Bucks closed out the scoring with a goal midway through the second half.
“Alex Craine hit a beautiful pass to Ryan Fitz(simmons) who went one-on -one with the keeper and had a very nice composed finish,” Moyer said. “The entire team played great. We are super excited to be playing in the postseason.
“Jenna Abaza was excellent in goal and has come up big for us all year.”
Heading into Sunday’s District One 4A seeding meeting, Central Bucks West (14-4, 8-4 SOL) is seeded fourth.
