Wissahickon coach Mike Borkowski: “We still need to more consistent hitting, but we are coming around. We were able to finally put together a long inning, and it was the reason we won. It was a good team win, but we can be better. Hope we keep moving forward.
“We set a team goal to make the playoffs – obviously not an easy thing- but if we can get in, it will be good for us next season when we are all older and more experienced.”
–Darnell delivers: “Every game we start seven sophomores and freshmen. Despite the scores from last week, we are getting better. The sophomores have really improved, and it is starting to show. One player that has grown as a player is our pitcher today – Sydney Darnell. She took her lumps last year as a freshman pitcher, but now she has two of our three wins. She went the full seven and constantly wiggled out of trouble. That’s a good team, and we really needed a win and Syd stepped up. I’m very proud of the way she has played.”
Up next: Wissahickon (3-5, 1-2 SOL) will host Quakertown on Thursday, and Abington (2-3, 1-2) will be on the road at Mount St. Joseph Academy for a non-league game Wednesday.
