Springfield Twp coach Mike DeCandido:
–The game: “Tonight was a good test of our character. Typically, we don’t play well the game before winter break, and today our guys came out and showed their relentlessness. Morrisville fought back in the second half and made it a tight game, and our guys stayed calm and handled the situation with great poise. We lost one of our starters on the first play of the game, and everyone else stepped up in his absence. It really was a full team effort tonight on both ends.”
Props: “A lot of guys stepped up big time tonight. Jake Gibson was a huge help for us and did everything. He typically plays the role of a big man, but tonight we had to use him at guard. He helped break the press and helped up top when we needed to press. Clay Trejbrowski was a huge offensive lift off the bench. When Morrisville made their run in the second half, Clay answered with three 3s of his own. That was the lift our team needed. I wish I could shout out every guy individually because it was a true team effort tonight, and I’m happy they came together and picked each other up.”
Up next: Springfield Twp will return to action Tuesday, Jan. 6, when the Spartans will host Cheltenham.
