Non-league
NORTH PENN 4, BIBB HIGH SCHOOL (Ala.) 3
The Knights capped a memorable trip to Alabama by winning their third non-league game in two days on Saturday at Rhoads Softball Stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama.
Bella Nunn got the job done in the circle, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out 13 and walking only one in a strong showing.
The Knights scored a pair of runs without collecting a hit in the bottom of the first. Nunn helped her own cause with a sacrifice fly. The Knights also benefitted from a walk, a hit batter and a Bibb error.
The Choctaws evened the score with two runs in the top of the third, making an error hurt with a home run that plated a pair.
A Gabby Battavio single in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Knights a 3-2 edge, and they extended that to 4-2 in the fifth when Cailin Halfpenny scored on a two-out steal of home.
That run loomed large when Bibb added an unearned run in the top of the seventh inning.
The Knights collected just three hits in the win – all singles.
North Penn (4-1, 1-1 SOL) will host Souderton on Wednesday.
