Central Bucks East goalkeeper Jordan Geller came of age on Monday night. The first-year varsity starter shut out a previously undefeated team.
“Jordan took a developmental leap forward. He came out off his line. He was confident, held the ball, made key clearances and saves. He was on his game tonight,” said Patriots’ coach Jeremiah White. “He made a huge mental leap forward and I’m proud of him for that. He made at least three key saves.”
With about 2:00 left, CB East’s Brandon Leasoff powered through West’s backline and got taken down. The referee blew the whistle and awarded East a penalty kick. Keegan Cannon booted it past the keeper.
East earned a much-needed win to improve to 2-3.
“It was important for the guys. They were pumped up. East and West is a longtime rivalry. They are always energized and charged up for the game,” White said. “Our backline is strong. The challenge has been integrating a new face. Today he took a huge leap forward.”
“It was a good battle, physical at times, a lot of 50-50 play,” said Bucks’ coach Stefan Szygiel. “It was a typical East-West game. It could have gone either way.
“You probably give the first half to us. Then we seemed to fade a little and they grew even more. They put on a big push in the last two minutes.”
Szygiel’s team is still 6-1. He is not too concerned.
“We’re still off to a great start. Nothing changes in our approach or goals,” Szygiel said. “It’s an 18-game season and we’re 6-1.”
CB East (2-3, 2-2 SOL) hosts William Tennent on Tuesday at 3:30. CB West (6-1, 3-1 SOL) plays Hatboro-Horsham on Saturday at noon.

ABINGTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2
Talk about wild endings.
The Ghosts will be hard pressed to come up with a wilder ending than the one that saw them score a pair of goals in the final 30 seconds of regulation to erase a 2-1 deficit and escape with a win over the Titans, delighting the home crowd at Schwarzman Stadium.
It was still a 2-1 game with the final seconds ticking off the clock when the craziness began with a Blaire Barber cross. A leaping Liam Friel headed the ball across to Danny Heller, who headed it into the net with 30 seconds remaining. Overtime appeared imminent, but the Ghosts had other ideas.
The Titans played it back, but Leo Pitkow came up with the ball and hit a through ball to Touey, who split a pair of defenders and found the net with the game winner with seven seconds remaining, stunning the Titans and propelling the Ghosts to the electrifying win.
Earlier, South’s Jake Heiling scored the only goal of the first half. Sean Touey erased that deficit with a goal for the Ghosts only to watch the Titans answer with a score to go back on top. That 2-1 score stood until the Ghosts’ late-game heroics.
Abington (5-2, 2-2 SOL) will host Harry S Truman on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., and Central Bucks South (1-6-1, 1-3) is off until next Monday when the Titans will host North Penn at 7 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 7, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 2
Six different players contributed goals and three others added assists in the Spartans’ no-doubt-about-it non-league win.
Jack Meder turned a pass from Jake Welsh into a goal that turned out to be the game winner. Louis Luongo scored back-to-back goals – the first with a Trevor McCaffrey assist and the second assisted by Tuhenya Chakubuta. Then it was Welsh finding Meder for the score. Chakubata scored with a Caedmon Curry assist, and that was followed by Kyle Smith’s unassisted goal. Matt Schmidt wrapped up the Spartan scoring barrage with a goal, using an assist from Evan Hincapie.
Springfield Township (5-1, 3-1 SOL) will be on the road at Upper Dublin on Tuesday.
QUAKERTOWN 0, SAUCON VALLEY 0 (2 OT)
One hundred minutes could not determine a winner when the Panthers took on Saucon Valley in Monday’s non-league game, but coach Kevin Woulfe had nothing but good things to say about his team’s effort.
“It was an awesome game,” the Panthers’ coach said. “Saucon is a very solid team.
“It was a total team effort, but defensively, we were strong with senior captain Ben Wackerman and sophomore Logan Suchanek in the center.
“Sophomore Caleb Rudloff and junior Evan Kemp did a great job of controlling possession to the wings and feeding our strikers and outside mids. Junior midfielder Andy Munsell worked tirelessly, making runs and tormenting their defense. It was a crazy game with opportunities for both teams.”
The Panthers were without junior center back and captain Nate Besch, who was serving a red card suspension for a deliberate handball in the box during the Cheltenham game.
Quakertown (0-5-1, 0-4 SOL) will host Upper Moreland on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
